  • We don’t always recognize the voice of God speaking; even Samuel (the prophet) didn’t.
  • God does speak to people, He does give visions and it isn’t unheard of for His people to hear from Him.
  • Hebrews 4:7, 1 Corinthians 12:3, Jude 20, Romans 8:14, Acts 2:4, 1 Corinthians 14:26
  • God speaking seems like the NORMATIVE situation for those who love God.
  • Dallas Willard: “As with all close personal relationships, we can surely count on God to speak to each of us when and as it is appropriate.”
  • Question is, Why don’t we hear sometimes? How do we hear?
  • The word of God is where we best hear the Spirit’s desire for our lives.

  • God absolutely speaks to every one of us, through the pages of Scripture.
  • To hear God properly I it is essential that I commune with him and his word.
  • Sometimes, God speaks in whispers. 1 Kings 19:11-13
  • Conversational prayer involves LISTENING and WAITING UPON GOD!
