Is Marijuana Cool, or What?

Dave: Marijuana is becoming legal in more and more places around the United
States.

Jeff: The Bible does talk about food and herbs being given to us from God!

Dave: Of course, that doesn’t mean God intended for us to pick them, dry them,
roll them up, light them on fire aaaaand smoke them!

Jeff: That’s right – but is there any prohibition against marijuana or other drugs?

Dave: We Christians obey God above all things. What does the Bible say?

Jeff: And my main response is that we have to obey the Bible. Ephesians 5:18
says, “Do not get drunk.”

Dave: 1 Corinthians 6:10 says that “drunkards” will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Jeff: The words about drunkenness are all from the Greek word that means,
basically, the opposite of sober.

Dave: We are called to be sober minded and clear-minded.

Jeff: I don’t think Christians need to be legalistic – we simply should evaluate this
simple test: can we honestly be clear headed and sober minded in whatever we
are participating in?

Dave: There we go. Christians don’t get intoxicated, but have sober minds.
