The Trinity: A Rational Belief

February 10, 2013

Topic Notes

  • Matthew 28:19
  • The Trinity was foreshadowed in the Old Testament
  • “The Son exists because the Father exists, but there was never a time before the Father produced the Son” – C.S. Lewis
  • There is One God but Three Persons / Each part is entirely God
  • Listener Question:
    • Why didn’t God create human beings such that they FREELY desire to do good, thus removing the need to create a Hell at all… and if you believe this is impossible, isn’t this the state that will exist in Heaven?
  • Because the Trinity exists, love exists. (Jeff explains)
  • Is Hell an expression of God’s love? (We explain)
  • Bible Contradiction via
    • God accepts human sacrifice vs. God forbids Human Sacrifice
    • 2 Samuel 21:9 vs. Deuteronomy 12:31
  • Listener Question:
    • Since the Bible states that God does not desire that anyone perish, but also states that a majority of Human Kind is going to Hell, doesn’t this show that God’s plan of salvation is a failure, even by His own standard? and if this outcome is a success, what would count as a failure?
  • John 17:12 Jesus lost noone that God gave Him. While the scripture is alluding to the Desciples, it touches on an important principal that Jesus does not lose what God gives him.
  • Discussion on the Holy Spirit
