Topic Notes

Topics:

  • CHRISTIANITY DISPROVED! (sarcasm intended)
  • On that website, there are six main points of contention as to why Christianity is wrong (we will cover the first four this week and the final two next week).
  • SCIENCE:
      Their Argument:

    • If the bible is 100% factual then the Universe is not billions of years old.
    • The Universe IS billions of years old
    • Therefore the Bible is WRONG
  • We believe that the Bible does NOT refute the Old Universe viewpoint
  • We agree that science shows that the Universe is billions of years old
  • In all instances, we believe that Science and the Bible are true. Our interpretation of each may stand in the way of our understanding.
  • THE BRAIN:
      Their Argument:

    • The brain reacts to stimuli and science can reproduce religious experiences in a laboratory
  • We do not believe in the separation of Body and Soul
  • Just because something can be reproduced in the laboratory doesn’t mean it DOESN’T exist outside of it
  • The brain CAN affect our soul
  • GOD:
      Their Argument:

    • Christopher Hitchens: There is a direct disconnect between deism and theism.
    • All arguments for God’s existence show a deistic god, not a theistic god.
    • Monothesim evolved out of Polytheism
  • We have established that the Christian God has been proven true through history and the Bible
  • Just because knowledge evolves, doesn’t mean that the knowledge is incorrect
  • THE BIBLE:
      Their Argument:

    • The Bible is FULL OF CONTRADICTIONS!
    • There are a lack of manuscripts that are near the date of the original
  • We refute Bible Contradictions every week

    • The blood-shedder must die: Genesis 9:5-6
    • The blood-shedder must not die: Genesis 4:15
  • We have talked at length about Biblical Manuscripts
