Dave: Homer’s Iliad has 643 manuscript copies, but the Bible has 5,366! The Bible
totally defeats any other…Jeff: Wait a second, Dave, what’s wrong with those numbers?
Dave: I’ll tell you what. THEY ARE OLD.
Jeff: You don’t like old people!
Dave: No, I just don’t like old data.
Jeff: Right. We Christians throw that number around a lot. But it’s no longer
accurate!Dave: As of January 2012, Clay Jones (a respected researcher) pointed out that
Homer’s Iliad has 1,757 copies!!Jeff: And the Greek manuscripts of the Bible number at 5,795.
Dave: So, the Bible still beats any other ancient document in the world, as far as
reliability.Jeff: Absolutely. But, let’s give credit where credit is due… researchers have
located over 1,000 new Iliad manuscripts. And, honestly, that’s really cool.
