Audio Transcript:
Dave: Jesus was very popular and crowds of people came to listen to him teach
and watch him heal people.Jeff: Mark 10:45 even says, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served,
but to serve… ”Dave: That’s why he was here! To help people, to serve people.
Jeff: But Luke 5:16 says, “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”
Dave: Jesus would go to “lonely places” – meaning he would be by himself and
nobody else was there.Jeff: – It’s important to note that these were probably locations where he couldn’t
be found.Dave: Jesus took Psalms 46:10 to heart: “Be still, and know that I am God”
Jeff: That’s right. Jesus didn’t happen to be alone suddenly.. he MADE TIME to be
still. And if it was good enough for Jesus…Dave: Probably a good idea for us.
Jeff: I love how the verse says that he often withdrew to pray.
Dave: Not every once in awhile.
Jeff: Not when he got lucky.
Dave: Not when he saw the opportunity.
Jeff: Not when all bills paid, and after he made lunch for the disciples…
Dave: He often did it.
Jeff: So, friends, carve out some time to be alone with God – make it happen.
