Dave: When well know critic of Christianity, Bill Maher, makes an elegant point about Christians – you know something’s wrong.
Jeff: I just listened to a YouTube clip of Maher saying…
Maher QUOTE: “Martin Luther King gets to call himself a Christian because he actually practiced loving his enemies. If you rejoice in revenge, torture, and war you cannot say you’re a follower of the guy who explicitly said, “Love your enemies” and “do good to those who hate you.”
Jeff: Point taken, Bill.
Dave: If we want the world to take Christianity seriously, we need to take Jesus seriously.
Jeff: And seriously, Jesus said LOVE your ENEMIES. He didn’t say, “Love everyone except that jerk over there!”
Dave: Nope! He was pretty clear about how we handle people who do wrong to us. We treat them well. We LOVE them.
Jeff: And love is a pretty heavy concept – it’s not like you can say love them if all you’re doing is not punching them in the throat.
Dave: Think on it – Jesus called you to practice LOVING the people who have done you wrong.
