Dave: What is the tribulation or suffering of Christians during the end times?
Jeff: Well, Revelation 13:5 says, “The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months.”
Dave: So we’re looking for a period of time in the future when Christians will be attacked by the beast for 42 months.
Jeff: Well, maybe not.
Dave: But that’s what the Bible said!
Jeff: It did say the beast would attack for 42 months, but it didn’t say the future.
Dave: Whaaaa???
Jeff: Nero, who matches Biblical descriptions of the beast, also persecuted Christians with awful and disgusting punishments.
Dave: Yeah, but the Bible says it will be 42 months worth of persecution.
Jeff: Yeah. Nero’s persecution lasted from November AD 64 until June AD 68.
Dave: Let me do the math… wow, that is exactly 42 months.
Jeff: I love it when the numbers work. Nero fits the description
