Dave: Do Christians really need Apologetics?
Jeff: Apologetics is the art and science of defending Christianity.
Dave: Sometimes people will reject this topic stating, “God doesn’t need our help
to be defended!”Jeff: That’s true, God doesn’t. . .But, human beings need our help.
Dave: The main goal of Christian Apologetics is to provide rational explanation
and evidence to non-believers.Jeff: Not “cram this down your throat” arguments, but thoughtful compelling lines
of reason.Dave: For this reason, mere memorization of facts is not a sufficient exercise. We
must be able to dialogue gently and interact with another human being using the
facts.Jeff: We must involve prayer and compassion for our friends whom we speak
with.Dave: 1 Peter 3:15 says, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who
asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”Jeff: That’s great. But a lot of people miss the second half of that verse. It
says, “But do this with gentleness and respect.”
