Audio Transcript:

Dave: Bible interpretation is an important art and science.

Jeff: To properly interpret the Bible you have to have the right tools.

Dave: And one of those “tools” is the Holy Spirit.

Jeff: 1 Corinthians 2:14 says, “The man without the Spirit does not accept the
things that come from the Spirit of God!”

Dave: Yea – it even continues and says that the things of God, “they are
foolishness to (people without the Spirit), and (they) cannot understand them,
because (these things) are spiritually discerned.”

Jeff: Imagine you were an astronomer.

Dave: Yes!

Jeff: Now imagine you aren’t allowed to use a telescope, or anything from a
telescope.

Dave: Ah… I wouldn’t be a very good astronomer.

Jeff: You have to have the right tools to do your job! If things in the Bible are only
spiritually discerned, and you don’t have the Holy Spirit…

Dave: Then you’re missing the most important piece of Biblical interpretation.

Jeff: You may understand the words – but you’ll miss the power. It’ll just seem like
foolishness. So you have to have the Spirit to properly interpret the Bible.
