Audio Transcript:

Dave: 1 Corinthians 2:14 teaches that we must have the Holy Spirit to properly
interpret the Bible.

Jeff: Otherwise it will just seem like foolishness to us.

Dave: For the Christian, that means we should be making a concerted effort to be
lead by the Spirit as we study God’s word.

Jeff: We must pray that we will understand – and for the Holy Spirit to open our
eyes to the Truth of God’s word.

Dave: An amazing example comes from the book of Daniel, chapter 9.

Jeff: It gives the exact year that the Messiah would die – and it just happened to be the
same year Jesus was crucified.

Dave: Yet, many of the religious leaders couldn’t see Jesus for who he was.

Jeff: Perhaps they weren’t using the Spirit to really understand their scriptures. Even if
we know the words of the Bible, we need the Holy Spirit to open our eyes to the
truth and power of the Scripture.

Dave: So, before you read your Bible today – try praying for an open heart, and
open eyes!
