Dave: The Bible contains prophecies about who the Messiah would be.
Jeff: We believe Jesus was the Messiah and that he fulfilled all the necessary
Dave: Let’s hear just one line of evidence – some of the prophecies.
Jeff: The Bible actually gives an “address” so-to-speak of who the Messiah is.
Dave: I know it starts by saying the Messiah will come from Abraham (Genesis
Jeff: And from the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10).
Dave: An ancestor will be King David (2 Sam 7:14).
Jeff: Yes, and he will be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2).
Dave: That’s great – but how many people could fit that?
Jeff: Almost none. For example, let’s find someone: just think of your great-great-
great-great-great-great grandfather. Out of his descendants (and nobody else),
choose your great-great-great grandfather. Then from his descendants choose
just your great-great grandfather.
Dave: Okay, this is being narrowed down quite a bit.
Jeff: Now, pick your birth city. How many people qualify?
Dave: Uh… me.
Jeff: It’s virtually the same thing. Almost nobody except Jesus would qualify.
