AUDIO TRANSCRIPT:

Dave: Bible Contradictions are a favorite topic of challengers to the Bible.

Jeff: It’s a favorite topic of ours too, because we haven’t found any genuine
contradictions that don’t have an explanation.

Dave: For instance, one critic points out Genesis 3:14 (Yes, Dave gave the wrong verse!)

Jeff: it says, “the Lord God said to the serpent, ‘Because you have done this,
Cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on
your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.'”

Dave: The critic points out just how wrong the Bible is saying, “Snakes, while built
low, do not eat dirt.”

Jeff: This is a terrible way to read scripture. You have to understand the Bible uses
literary devices.

Dave: Right, if I say – “I have a ton of homework.”

Jeff: – – really? You have 2,000 pounds of homework?

Dave: Obviously I was exaggerating to make a point!

Jeff: The Bible uses normal everyday language, and never intended to suggest
snakes really eat dirt.
